If only instead of "giving" us software that does (for us) what they think we need software to do (for us), programmers - who figure out how to create software that does (for us) one or another thing - taught us how - what they figure out - to create software that does (for users) one or another thing.
Why don't they? Hubris and greed. What's not known is which is the larger factor ... or how the two are related.
At any rate, the problem seems to be insoluble ... or, at any rate, it's a nut I haven't been able to crack.
